I suppose that reaching the 50 episode mark should be cause for some sort of celebration. To be perfectly honest, I don’t have the time, nor the patience. I’ve nevr been big on “anniversary specials”. Instead I’d rather just keep working on bringing you the best independent, podsafe music I can find every week.

tony This week, My guest is Tony Marriott, from Vancouver, BC, Canada. He just released his latest CD entitled Solitude. Tony joins us to discuss not only this CD, but some of his previous works as well.

You can purchase Solitude at CD Baby. You can check out Tony’s web pages at www.tonymarriott.net, and www.myspace.com/tonymarriott.

I am on vacation this week.  I hope it rains.  Seriously.  The average daily temperature in Las Vegas this time of year is between 105 and 110 degrees fahrenheit.  The sun is absolutely brutal, and going outside too long in the summertime can kill you.  It rains here, literally, a handfull (5 or less) times a year.  To be honest, I’ve had it up to here with hot and sunny.  We are renting a beach house in the Pacific northwest, and the projected weather is cloudy, rainy and foggy, with temperatures of 65-70 degrees.

Most people would think that would make for a wretched holiday.  Not us.  Long pants, sweaters, books, shopping, lots of fresh seafood and local produce.  Oh yeah!  Don’t forget the local wineries and breweries!

I’ll be back next week with a whole new batch of interviews from independent artists, fro Las Vegas, and from around the world.

Here are some of the tunes I’m listening to on my mp3 player as I travel:

The Hoolapoppers – Maplight

The Hoolapoppers – Open Road (version #2)

The Culture Bandits – Jamaica

The Offramps – Hallmark Holiday

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros – Yalla Yalla

Vittoria Conn – Turn This Boat Around

Remember, if you like the music you hear, support those artists by buying their music!

…And don’t forget to tell them Paulie sent you!

I had to revert to the old show format this week. The band I had lined up decided NOT to release to me mp3’s of the songs we were going to play, choosing instead to re-record the vocals, remix, and get back to me next week. As disappointing and inconvenient as this is, I completely understand. Personally, I would not want to release a product until I knew it was “just right”. I don’t have any other interviews “in the can” and ready to move up in the rotation, so I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to play some of the music from past interview-ees that didn’t make it on their respective episodes. One, though is a song that I have grown to love that already was on an episode, and I did add one extra tune on the end from a band that I would loooooove to have on the show.

Please take a moment to go to www.podcastawards.com and nominate me for a 2007 Podcast Award in one of the following categories:  Best Podsafe Music, or Best Produced Podcast.  A podcast may be nominated for only one category  per nomination, or the whole thing will be tossed out.  Some say it’s only for the exposure, or to further their podcasts’ mission.  Not me.  It’s about the recognition, the hardware and the prizes!  Ain’t gonna lie!

Please also go to the digivegas home page.  There you will find a little yellowish DIGG IT box.  That is a direct link to digg.com.  It’s a listing service, of sorts, and the more diggs I get, the higher my ranking, and therefore, the higher my exposure.  A mere 50 diggs will land me on the front page in the Music Podcasts category.  Don’t worry about needing to provide your email addy, I’ve never been spammed by them.

Please also vote for this podcast at podcast alley.  Here’s a link directly to my voting page there.  Don’t worry about needing to provide your email addy to them either, I’ve never been spammed by them either.
